Slow Down

Slow down.

Live in the moment.

Don’t let life rush by, take the time to stop and be present.

Disconnect from your phone to reconnect with yourself.

This is the reason I picked up film photography in the first place. There is no instant gratification. There is no Wi-Fi transfer to your phone. There is no app to apply your lut and post to IG. There is just you, and the camera. Taking away the ability to snap 30 photos in a second, see all of them, not like them, and retake them adds to the artistic vision. It makes you slow down and think about your photo… because you only have 36 of them. Your camera doesn’t tell you what’s peaking, it won’t fix your settings for you, that’s all up to you.

And that’s why I love it.

I don’t shoot nearly enough film however, and it’s because of the reasons I listed above.

I need to teach myself to slow down, I need to allow myself to take those extra seconds, or minutes or hours needed to capture a great shot. I need to be ok with waiting and locking down the perfect image. i need to be ok with waiting to see my images, and know it’s ok to not have instant content for social media.

I need to slow down.
